Optimism High in Meetings Industry

FutureWatch 2011, a meetings industry study by MPI and IMEX, was recently released. The study surveyed 459 industry professionals about their meetings for the coming year. The results showed a high degree of optimism for 2011 and beyond, including increases in events, budgets and attendees. Noteworthy results include a 5% increase in spending per meeting and a 2% increase in attendees per meeting.

FutureWatch 2011 also includes results from the IMEX Global Insights Report, which surveys a standing panel of 45 senior industry professionals. The IMEX Global Insights Report also showed lots of optimism for the industry moving forward; most notably 59% of respondents expect an increase in budgets this year, and 58% expect an increase in meetings.

Results, IMEX Global Insights Report:
58% of respondents say the number of meetings will increase this year, while 37% say it will stay the same, and only 5%say it will decrease

18% expect a significant increase in budget this year, 39% foresee a slight increase and 24%sense that budgets will remain the same.

25% say demonstrating ROI from meetings, events and incentives in detail—and in a way that management fully understands—is either their most or their second most important priority.

42% say they are fully committed to CSR and 26% say they are currently developing CSR policies.
