Improving the Annual Conference Experience


Planning an annual conference presents a unique challenge. Attendees crave the information they receive, but they also expect something different each year.

A recent MeetingsNet article provided ten tips for planners to help deliver a boost to the annual conference. A few of its ideas include:

  • Rethink the business card. Instead of the traditional business card, ask for attendees to provide their LinkedIn profiles when they register. This will allow members to easily network before and after the conference.
  • Provide an incentive for members to attend the conference. Providing a certain amount off of membership renewal will help with attendance. It’s a win-win for both parties.
  • Let your attendees have a say in event planning. Allow them to suggest different options for food, speakers and sessions. Collect this data by providing a voting mechanism on your website.
