The Las Vegas Learning Center located on the third floor of MEET has an amazing interactive, computer-based classroom training that covers the basic procedures, processes, and terminology defining the daily workload of the beginning payroll practitioner. This program provides a thorough overview of the laws and regulations that affect payroll. Practical experience is also gained through "hands-on" computer-based exercises that allow each participant to work through actual payroll forms and payroll calculations. Mayor and City Officials Tour MEET Las Vegas

Mayor Goodman, Councilman Steve Ross and other city staffers gathered at MEET Las Vegas Tuesday night for an exclusive tour and mixer.

“Mayor Goodman and the city have done such a wonderful job promoting and revitalizing downtown,” said CEO of MEET, Dan Maddux. “We wanted to show our thanks and also show them the unique space that MEET provides for meetings and events in downtown.”

Las Vegas officials got an exclusive backstage tour of MEET and enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres prepared by Elite Catering. Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman said the new MEET building is an essential part of the revitalization of downtown Las Vegas.

“I really mean it when I say that you provide a necessary component to the success of what we’re trying to achieve in the downtown,” Goodman said at the grand opening of MEET in March.

MEET team exhibits at the ASTD conference in Chicago

The MEET team exhibited at the ASTD (American Society for Training & Development) International Conference and Expo in Chicago, May 17 – 19. This conference is the premier event in the learning and development industry. MEET’s 3rd floor multimedia center was the focus of this event. The goal was to create awareness and gain exposure in the Training & Development industry. We generated quality booth traffic over the course of the three days and we look forward to following up with the contacts we made.

MEET hosts Clark County Foster and Adoptive Parent Association Award Gala

The Clark County Foster and Adoptive Parent Association (CCFAPA) held an award gala at MEET on the second floor on Saturday, May 15. With 150 people in attendance, the event recognized case workers and foster/adoptive parents. Dave Courvoisier, news anchor for KLAS-TV Las Vegas, was the guest of honor. The theme was “Angels Among Us.” The tables and chairs were decorated in blue and white and the walls were lit up in blue, using PAR uplighting. The CCFAPA team reported that the gala was a success on all fronts. Following the event, the CCFAPA event planner, exclaimed, “we had a great time!”

As a consultant to MEET and an independent meeting and event producer, I had the opportunity to work with MEET Las Vegas on the spectacular Grand Opening. Connect approached me to discuss what it’s like to hold an event at MEET for their April e-newsletter. For the Grand Opening, I had the opportunity to work with MEET’s great partners making it all come together smoothly and seamlessly. Freeman was an amazing partner to work with and really brought the experiential design to life. The one question the interviewer asked that I really couldn’t answer was in regards to challenges and obstacles. What a fantastic three weeks it's been since our Grand Opening! Not only did the opening go great, but then a surprise visit from the Governor at our Healthcare Forum Event, and now MEET was given the opportunity to be involved with the Nevada Arts Council!

On Friday, April 2nd, MEET had the honor of hosting two seminars and a strategic meeting for the Nevada Arts Council as a part of the Oasis 2010 Conference. This conference was all about "Harnessing Nevada's Cultural Power." It was a pleasure to work with this group, and I look forward to working with them again in the future!

MEETing of the Minds

On Thursday, March 18th, MEET Las Vegas welcomed hundreds of physicians and hospital administrators to discuss healthcare reform and cast their votes on their ballot to Congress. The event was sponsored by the Clark County Medical Society who invited over one thousand physicians. Many familiar faces were present at the forum, including Gary Wadell, Las Vegas Now’s senior anchor, who served as the event’s moderator, as well as the Governor of Nevada, Jim Gibbons! Within the first week of MEET Las Vegas’ opening, we have already been visited by two of the city’s most influential politicians—Mayor Oscar Goodman and Governor Jim Gibbons.

MEET Las Vegas is officially open! The Grand Opening celebration was held on March 16, 2010 with the ribbon cutting ceremonies being led by the CEO of MEET, Dan Maddux. Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and Fafie Moore from the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce joined Dan on stage on the outdoor pavilion, one of downtown Las Vegas’ only outdoor event venues, for the ceremonial cutting.

Following the ribbon cutting, the doors to MEET opened for guests to experience the venue. An aerialist, suspended from a moon, greeted visitors as they arrived. The over five hundred invited guests made their way into the event through the only facility- owned fog screen in Las Vegas. Once through the fog displaying the projected elements of the evening, the guests were greeted to a venue which revealed a unique experiential design complete with color changing lighting that captured the mood of the various environmental sounds coming through the sound system. In addition, the venue used lighting to express various emotions on chains rigged from the ceiling with select images projected onto and through the chains. The main event area was sprinkled with Lounge22 seating arrangements for many to MEET and GREET each other.

The second floor was designed as a Latin lounge. Orange and red furniture provided guests a place to sit and network. The walls were lit up in reds and purples with silhouettes of palm trees sliding up them. Drum Jungle provided the evening’s entertainment – a mix of a Latin DJ, dancers, and a live musical performance.

The third floor opened to reveal its high tech multimedia executive training facilities. Guests were greeted as they exited off the elevator and directed to the multimedia training centers where the halls were lined with original paintings from artists from Opportunity Village.

As the guests left with their gift bags from MEET, the evening view of MEET was enhanced by the color changing lighting that reflected various color schemes onto the building.

MEET would like to thank everyone that made it out to the grand opening and all of our partners that made it such a huge success. Special thanks to Freeman, Dazian, Ethos, Lounge 22, Champagne Creative Group, Bacardi USA, Absolute Amusements, Open Window Productions, Ice Occasions, Elite Catering, and DiVine Event Productions for their generous support of MEET.

The event received substantial media coverage, including a lengthy spot on the Channel 8 evening news, an article in the Las Vegas Sun with an extensive photo gallery and a full page article with images on Meetingsnet.com. Thus far, more than a dozen media outlets have covered the grand opening!

Construction Update Week 12 March 2010

The outside of MEET can be seen many blocks away in the evening hours as the building is lit up by the many LED lights surrounding the outside of the building. This provides a very unique branding opportunity for any of our clients using the facility. Only the imagination of the client is the limitation to what can be done. This will soon be in action upon the opening of MEET!

The finishing touches of the landscape are being completed as are the valet areas and other outside ammenities to the building. The inside of MEET is in the final touch up phases as we near the opening of MEET. Some of the attendees of a recent convention were given a sneak peak of what MEET has to offer as they were touring the facility with Dan Maddux, CEO. Many commented on what a unique facility and the need for Las Vegas to have such a flexible facility that allows just about anything to make the client's experience the best it can be without the restrictions they might find elsewhere!

The fencing has been removed around most of the building! You can now see the unobstructed view of the Bridger and 4th street entrances into MEET. We are finalizing the landscaping around the building and finishing up our technology implementation on the inside of the building. This fabulous event center is touring daily as the excitement is building in anticipation of the opening. Be watching for that opening event to be posted soon!!

These pictures provide a view of the finishing touches on the outside of MEET. The top picture shows part of the beautiful landscaping along S. 4th street and how it works with part of the wall in our outdoor pavilion. The picture top right shows the appealing fencing that surrounds our building, drive thru and outdoor pavilion area. Finally, the bottom picture shows our contractors finishing up the stone facade around one of our entrances. We have this stone being applied on our Bridger street and S. 4th street entrances.

We received our final approved electrical inspection this past week. All of our key areas have now passed their city inspections and we are now moving forward towards the final building inspection in the next two weeks.

As you can see, we are very close to opening our doors! We have many inquiries and are doing many site visits. We are booking for events starting in March 2010 and beyond...so, book your event today!!!

The MEET building is being treated its final touches! Here is a night time picture of some of the landscaping on 4th street on the outside of the pavilion. The landscaping should be completed sometime the middle of next week!

The second picture gives a view of the drive through and drop off area being finished! We continue to have rain that slows us down a bit...but we are still anticipating the C/O within the next couple weeks. The main contractors are off the job as their work is done! An Extended History of MEET Las Vegas

I’m so excited to have constructed MEET Las Vegas within the structure of a 1970’s modern building. Basically, we built a new building inside the shell of an existing one. It was the original location of Bank of America before they moved cattycorner from us prior to the purchase of our building. With the uniqueness of the exterior and the outdoor pavilion, we are a completely enclosed, gated property with lush landscaping to compliment and blend into the Downtown Las Vegas Centennial Plan.

After 9/11, I decided that it was time to open a multimedia computer-based training center in Las Vegas. Las Vegas had proven itself to be the most economically resilient location for meeting, training, exhibition, and events markets. Las Vegas was the first to recover after the 1^st terrorist attacks of this magnitude on U.S. mainland soil.

I looked on the Internet to find a commercial realtor. Found one, we met; we clicked the first day as we proceeded to look at about 15 properties. Like searching for a nice apartment in Paris, most everything I saw had close to no redeemable features to meet my vision. I thought it would take months to a year to locate the perfect property. The last property we saw was this 1970’s colonial like style structure on Joe W. Brown drive called The White House. Historical by Las Vegas standards, the White House has had many uses. I think it even has a second floor bachelor pad at some point in history, which many older structures in Vegas had seen the likes of. We transformed the aged structure in a state-of-the-art training facility. I decided to keep the name “The White House” because so many people in town knew the name and location. Luckily, we were able to trademark the use on the name and truly create an evolution for our company and building. We occupied the White House for five years with amazing success! We literally turned away two times the business we could accommodate. The White House was in the footprint of the Las Vegas Convention Center future expansion plans. So we sold it to the LVCC. When we opened the White House, I knew we would continue to grow in the Las Vegas landscape. I had this burning idea to create MEET, but needed to become more familiar with the Las Vegas market and potential.

Before we sold the White House, I looked at dozens of potential properties. Mayor Goodman said to me at the opening of The White House, “You wouldn’t have had so many problems with the neighbors had you considered Downtown." When I found the building that has become MEET, I know it was our best possible location! The 3^rd floor of MEET will continue the brand of the White House multimedia center. It’s bigger and better than our prior facility. With the rapid change in the computer-based training environment, it was beneficial to have the change to do the multimedia computer-based center for a second time in Las Vegas.

Without a doubt, there is nothing in Las Vegas like MEET and the 3^rd floor Executive multimedia center continues what we started seven years ago.

Interestingly, we have had substantial interest in users wanting to use the computer-based training rooms as e-mail pavilions, to train customers on the software for the product or service, or as temporary offices for their employees during tradeshows. We have also had substantial interest in using the computer-based training rooms for production offices while using the majority of MEET for television or film production as well.

The process of demoing out the complete interior of modern Japanese architecture, maintaining the exterior architecture while shelling out this 48-foot-high building was quite the feat. Basically, we built a new building inside of a huge free-standing steel and stucco box.

Once the structure was a shell and the former bank vault was removed, a new steel structure was erected that could handle the weight and tension for assembly loads and a rigging infrastructure that will outperform our competition. We are completely column free and we will be the most expeditious move-in and move-out in the industry. The first floor has three access areas, one wide enough to drive in a ship. We have a freight elevator with a second floor lift gate for quick hydraulic lifting into the 2^nd floor space.

While the bulk of our business will come from the event, exhibition, and product showcases and production, I think that repeat users will find a need for the 3^rd floor for strategic purposes. Plus, it’s sexy as all get out!! It’s sort of the “Ugly Betty - Mode Magazine” office interior; fresh, hip, and frankly, sexy!

One of our last site jobs to accomplish entails redoing the drive area behind MEET. We are placing a new drain tile down as well as repaving the area. Our neighbors behind us, Nevada State Bank, appreciate the new drive!

The picture of our building "in blue" shows a teaser for the capabilities of our lighting on the outside of the building. This was a test of our lighting system that is provided in each one of the bays all around the exterior of MEET to provide for branding from a distance. It is all about starting the client's experience as soon as the buidling is within sight! Watch for much more coming soon!!!

Construction Update Week 7 January 2010

As you can see from these exterior pictures, the fencing is now being installed around the outside perimeter of the facility. Once this is installed, the landscaping will be next. We have had quite a bit of rain this week so we are waiting a couple days to actually pour the concrete for the outdoor pavilion area. However, the inside of the building continues to move along nicely with carpet being laid in all areas, computer training lab stations being installed, kitchens being finalized and other finishing touches as we look at February for our move in time!

Look at the great MEET signage now on the outside of the building! We now have a name attached to the face!!! It is a classy and sleek look as it lights up as the darkness moves in! We have many site visits that have already been scheduled and looking to participate in some city wide events in the very near future! Watch for our opening soon!

The construction continues to move towards completion at a pace ahead of schedule! The outdoor pavilion area is being prepared for the concrete pour later this week. You can also see that the walk ways have been poured around the building as well as the curbing for the drive thru.

Besides these exciting changes, our MEET sign will soon be lighting up the skies!!! Be watching for pictures that finally put the name on the building and show the final stages of construction are here! Opening soon!!!

Construction Update Week 5 January 2010

The emphasis this past week has been on the outside landscaping and grounds. As you can see by this progress photo, we have delivery of some of our palm trees for the perimeter of the building. This is in compliance with the centennial plan requirements for downtown construction. We also have the outdoor pavilion ground area prepared for the concrete to be poured. The fence posts have been installed and we are now beginning to erect the fence around the perimeter of the area. As you know, these are the finishing pieces to any construction project! Things continue to progess very well and our timing for completion in February 2010 is right on track and even ahead of schedule! We are very excited as we will be open for business for anything beginning in March 2010!
